Simple Life
Hey! My name is Mellisa, and like about 5 million other bored housewives....I'm writing a blog, because I feel utterly certain that something in my life is worth sharing (insert eye roll). I'm openly living as a total cliche.
Actually, I'm not really sure I know what a blog is? I think, upon clicking a link on Facebook or Pinterest, I end up at someone's blog....but the logistics of who will ever read this and for what reason are beyond me.
(*note-look up someone's blog)
For me, this is some sort of online journal. Much of my blog, will probably focus on our recent move out to the country. This move was the inspiration behind me starting this blog.
"The move".
The long story is, my husband completed his residency in Emergency Medicine back in 2012. We immediately bought the largest house we could (not) afford. It had a pool, sat on almost 3 acres in a gated community on the lake.
Less than two years later, after bringing home our first baby girl, we realized; the pool, the one acre of meticulously landscaped yard, the house, the industrial size water heater, the lawn, the $600 water bills throughout the summer, was just too much. The expense of it all, not to mention the added time my husband a) had to work to afford the expense and b) had to spend on the yard to curb some of those expenses, was just sucking the life out of us.
So, two years after moving into our "dream home", we tossed it on the market. About two years later we bought 65 acres (mainly so my husband could hunt on his own land). Two months after that purchase, we got our first offer, a few months later we closed, almost three years after listing it.
We went from about 3600 sqf, with pool, pool house, 3 car garage...to this...
3 cabins, each about 350 sqf, on 65 acres of land, mostly wooded with a 15 acre pond...what.was.i.thinking.?
